So I haven't posted in several days because I have been extremely busy. I needed to finish my Halloween costume which ended up looking awesome. The pea shooter ended up being adorable:

Alex as the zombie really worked too. I really had a great time. Now that Halloween has passed I have to focus on Christmas. So  exciting. I am not sure whether or not I am going to post details about the Christmas presents I am making. I think if I leave out who they are for it should be fine, maybe.

Tonight is a pretty mellow Halloween. Alex and I are sitting at home watching "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" and handing out candy to anyone that will choose to come to the house. Our candy of choice is Milky Ways and Starburst Gummies. I would have chosen Peanut Butter cups. Alex picked out the candy. Still all good candy.
The rest of the night will be spent pinning stuff on Pinterest as possible presents to make.
All in all a fun halloween that I end with a cute animal:

So the last few days have been pretty blech, missed a day of work because of a stomach bug (you would have thought I would have found time to blog), but I am back. I am all ready to do some crafting with of course the problem being I want to craft everything except what I should be crafting which is my Halloween costume. I want to be working on Christmas presents because I have all sorts of ideas, but Alex and I are going to a Halloween party on Saturday and I need my costume finished which means some hardcore crafting. *sigh*
Another issue with doing the Christmas crafting is that I currently lack a sewing machine. I have one, it is just broken. I have isolated the problem to the bobbins that I am using. I, of course, bought the absolute cheapest sewing machine possible when I bought mine so it is no longer manufactured, so when I broke and lost the original bobbins earlier this year I attempted to purchase new ones and bobbins are very specific. It is almost like buying ink for your printer. If you buy a super cheap off brand printer chances are some day you won't be able to find ink. So I got the bobbins that look right so every few stitches the machine will proceed to eat the fabric by pulling it down into the bobbin casing. Fun.
Off the topic of sewing machines and Christmas Presents, (Thanksgiving and Halloween are all like "WTF Christmas wait your turn"), Tomorrow I am going to start drinking ice water with lemon in the morning in addition to the regularly scheduled breakfast. It is supposed to be good for your immune system because of the vitamin C in the lemon and help boost weight loss and curb appetite, and some of the things I have read advise that you drink it while eating breakfast which is what I will do. I am not listening to nutjobs that say just drink something to stay alive. The main reason I am adding it is the increase in Vitamin C. I don't eat citrus fruits so I look at this as the worlds weakest lemonade with no sugar :).
As always I end today with the cute animal of the day:

Today was what I would call a fairly successful day. I did some shopping after sleeping in. Went to a craft store to get some felt. I am going to do some felt ornaments for friends for christmas I think. Then to the mall to pick up some more face wash (Wexler so it has to come from Bath and Body works) and then I got some candles from Yankee Candle. I am trying out having scented things around the house to see if I can tolerate it. So far so good. So far today I have burned Sage and Citrus as well as Fresh Towels. I am very excited to have candles in the house again. In addition to those two I also got Midnight Jasmine and Sand and Sun.
Dinner was pretty awesome. I made a  Potato and Leek Soup, I am looking forward to taking the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to be beef stew.
I saw a very disturbing interaction at target. A little kid (it was hard to call this kid little, she was a bit on the round side) took one of those monster bags of Halloween candy to her parents and asked if she could have it for just in case she didn't get enough when she Trick or Treated. And her parents said OK. It was a massive bag of candy all for this girl who couldn't have been older than 6 or 7 and her parents didn't even hesitate before letting her have it. I was more than a little disturbed. Well tomorrow is an early morning so I can get the beef stew started so I should turn in.

Take a long hard look at that picture and tell me what is wrong....look again...that is right, the window cling is upside down. It drove me insane for my entire lunch. Serious failure on the part of Wendy's.
So I finally made it to the fair. So much fun, I had a corn dog, some fries, a hot chocolate, some mini doughnuts, and I have a bag of cotton candy to make last. I didn't ride any rides because I prefer not to die.

Last night I went to Flying Saucer and had the Woodchuck Fall release which of course means I need to hunt down a case. My favorite seasonal. Short and shallow today....
Super cute animal in 3....2....1.....

I was a blogging slacker

I forgot  to blog yesterday which I  completely feel terrible about...my resolve it is weak. Lunch today is fun, a honeycrisp apple and a pack of crackers.

Dinner last night was grilled cheese and tomato soup.

Tonight is going to be really really bad for me though because tonight is the state fair. My mission is to get a funnel cake and a corndog. I don't care about what new and odd things they can deep fry, give me the classics :). Time to eat my lunch. I leave you with the cute animal of the day (one of my cats).

A very crafty day

A very quick post today, Alex just ran to the grocery store to get light cream so we can make a cream sauce to go with the pasta, that will go with our balsamic marinated pork chops. Today was a fun crafty day. Some friends came over and we watched Kung Fu Panda and did crafty things. I think I might try my hand at some felty crafts. This is totally invading Whitney and Jamie's realm, but everyone has been all up in my knitting business so they can share some felt. :) Today however I was working on a crochet project that was a Pea Shooter from the game Plants v. Zombies. its purpose in my life will be left unexplained at this time. Here is a picture of the subject:
Very fun, so that has been my day. I will carry on and keep blogging. I leave the day as I did yesterday with the cute animal of the day:

Why I am a Unicorn

In the one of latest episodes of Glee, Brittany gave a very frightening explanation of what unicorns were that was supposed to be inspiring. I will take it as inspiring. I am constantly doing. Constantly moving from one thing to another without stopping long enough to get excellent. I get competent and then move on. My latest fascination is with possibly becoming a registered dietitian. But Alex wants me to take time to think about it before I take on more student loans. That is extremely reasonable. It doesn't mean I will stop learning. I am going to try to manipulate my cooking to make it healthier. Add more veggies. :)
Another thing I am going to try to do is post here, no matter what I am doing whether it is cooking, or some other form of crafting. just to keep myself motivated and organized. I am a unicorn in that I am special (I know we all are special yadda yadda ya) but I really feel like I should be doing something special with my life and I just haven't found it yet. This actually isn't the first time helping people diet and food wise has come up. Back when I was applying to be a part of Americorp, there was a position working with a local farmers market with doing education with the local population about healthy foods and how they could use their EBT cards at the farmers market as well as getting that system fully set up. I really wanted it. I couldn't apply because it was in Spartanburg and Alex's job was too far away and we couldn't move so I got a job working for the state instead. I wonder if there is a position like that here in columbia, even if it is volunteer. I would like to do volunteer work like that.

So goal for the rest of this year:
1) Post every day
2) Find some kind of volunteer position working with nutrition and health
3) Work on my nutrition and health

We end with a cute animal of the day:
